What a Week!

Headlines - March 4, 2011

I am borrowing this opening line from Tr. Kelly’s weekly letter, but it is deserved. Our week started with Monday’s Science Fair and ended with Spanish Day on Wednesday. In between, our upper grades attended a performance of Three Cups of Tea and the lower classes enjoyed a visit from PSU reading buddies on Tuesday. Besides the Spanish assembly and being the last day before break, Wednesday’s power outage added significantly to the excitement of day. After all, what could be more exciting than going to the bathroom with flashlights? The week went by in a flash and I believe we will all be welcoming a little bit of time to recharge the batteries. We’ll need them for the next power outage.

Thank you, Teacher Bailey, for a wonderful Science Fair. Over 50 projects were on display and the event went smoothly thanks to your planning.
Thank you, Teacher Cathy, for your efforts on the all-school Spanish Day. It was great to see the whole school take part in this new extravaganza.

Last night I had the opportunity to accompany the Middle School students to answer phones during a pledge drive at WPSU-TV. It was exciting for them to learn how to answer calls, take the information, complete forms and ring the donation bell. We were well cared for throughout the evening and had a blast taking pledges and being part of the event. I was proud of the way our students carried themselves and put out a good message about Friends School. It was a great way to head into the break.
